Climate change and rampant urban sprawl have made Las Vegas one of the hottest cities in the nation. Heat-related illnesses and impacts to our outdoor workers are a growing crisis.
Las Vegas is also ranked in the top ten for poor air quality, leading to some of the highest cases of asthma, heart disease and other health conditions caused by air pollution.
These impacts are felt most intensely in areas with the highest low-income and minority populations.
SNEDCA, also known as the Clark County Lands Bill, would expand Las Vegas urban development into the desert, worsening air quality and the heat island effect in the city.
Most Media is happy to work with the Sierra Club on raising awareness about these issues.
